Vanika's Bio
It’s a privilege to contribute to the 10,000 Families Study, a unique opportunity to shape the future of healthcare for Minnesotans. As a Research Project Manager, I’m committed to advancing research that directly impacts the health of Minnesota families. This work aligns with my passion for serving the community and driving meaningful change in healthcare.
I’m Vanika (pronounced "Va-nee-ka") Chary. After several years in the Midwest, I have made the beautiful state of Minnesota my home for the past 7 years. The amazing people and vibrant community here have made a lasting impact, and I’m honored to serve Minnesotans through my role in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
My journey here began three years ago with the School of Public Health, and in January 2025, I was thrilled to join the 10,000 Families Study. In my role as a Research Project Manager, I oversee key responsibilities that ensure the success of this vital research, from ensuring regulatory compliance to developing study documents and supporting the Radon Testing Campaign and participant health visits.
I am dedicated to strengthening the 10KFS through robust research practices that benefit Minnesota’s communities. By exploring cancer causes, genetics, and environmental exposures, I aim to make a meaningful impact on public health. The most rewarding part of my work is collaborating with a dedicated team to improve the health and well-being of Minnesotans.
To anyone considering joining our study, your participation is invaluable. The 10KFS isn’t just research—it’s a chance to contribute to something that could reshape healthcare for Minnesotans. By helping us understand and prevent diseases like cancer, you’re playing a pivotal role in creating a healthier future for our communities.
For fun fact section: When I’m not working, I enjoy stargazing and observing astronomical events, which inspire a sense of awe and wonder.
