Meghan's BIO
10KFS is intriguing to me because it brings together genetics and environmental factors to look at health. As someone who works in the laboratory, I don't often get a chance to be a part of studies that take environment into account. I appreciate this study's intentional effort to include the population diversity found in Minnesota.
I have spent most of my life in Minnesota aside from four years away to attend college at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Despite working at the University of Minnesota, I remain a Badgers fan. My role for 10KFS is as the Laboratory Research Project Manager.
I have over two decades of laboratory experience both clinically in hospitals and on the research side here at UMN. I coordinate all laboratory-related activities throughout all study phases, oversee laboratory workflow, monitor supplies, specimen collection and receiving, then ensure accurate testing, quality assurance, and data management.
Fun Fact: I love to travel! I am particularly drawn to places with amazing scenery.
