Rana's Bio

I am passionate about the relationship between genetics, lifestyle, environment, and health. 10KFS will help us better understand these dynamic relationships, expanding what we know about long-term health, and this knowledge may help shape the future of medicine. People are not all the same, we all are beautifully unique, and a one-size-fits-all model to health falls short for so many. Precision medicine that considers each of these unique differences in genetics, lifestyle, behavior, and environment can powerfully change lives for the better.

While I was born in Illinois, Minnesota has been my home for more than half of my life, which qualifies me as a bona fide Minnesotan. I live in the Twin Cities with my husband and our two children, as well as our German Shepherd (Maverick) and our Boston Terrier (Shirley).

My educational background is in Psychology, with a particular emphasis on both social and health psychology. My work-related experience is focused on various aspects of research; particularly in longitudinal cohort studies, as well as research and survey design, recruitment, and coordination. I am interested in biopsychosocial health and community health promotion. As 10KFS’ health visit coordinator, I facilitate family health visits both locally in the metro area, and throughout greater Minnesota. I believe it is important that all Minnesota families who wish to participate in 10KFS can do so in a way that is both meaningful and convenient for them.

Fun facts about me: My favorite places to travel are Bentonville, AR (amazing mountain biking!!), the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Brazil.
