Masnoo's BIO
I am passionate about the relationships between the natural and built environment, health, and global populations. I also love learning from and working alongside different communities! These interests really align with the goals of the 10KFS study, so it’s been an exciting project to support and be a part of!
I was born and raised here in the Twin Cities, but my family is from Oromia, a region in Ethiopia home to the Oromo people. My parents immigrated here in the ‘90s, but I still have plenty of family back home (and scattered across the globe)! Being Oromo is one of the most important things to me, so I love the large, vibrant East African community in the Twin Cities!
My job for the study primarily focuses on communications and support of participants and the 10KFS study. I am currently at the University of Minnesota studying Urban Studies with minors in Public Health, Global Studies, and Population Studies. In the future, I plan to get my Master of Public Health in Community Health. There’s a wide variety of work that can be done in the field of community health, so I’m excited to further explore that!
One fun fact about me is that I love used and old things. I love thrifting and buying old cameras (film cameras, camcorders, etc.) whenever I have some free time. I think that trying to find cool things for cheap is a really fun and rewarding process!
